Brainstorming

I have not been very productive lately, it all remains stuck in my head. One possible explanation may be self-criticism (you know, when you look at your blog and think "well, this is all rubbish...  - Vanity indeed !") and also the fact that I do not devote enough time to really work on ambitious projects. It is a shame, for I do not lack ideas.

Perhaps I should just repeat this little exercise, excellent for whoever is stuck. Just make random shapes of different colors, let it dry, then get a pen and draw over those. It is a creative, liberating, inspiring and surprising process. Yeah, all this.

    Good day to you.

Back in Asia

Here are two watercolors I did this summer, during my trip in China and Mongolia. I was very disappointed about the result back then, but they are still nice souvenirs. You can (hopefully) recognize the great wall, and the other one is a landscape with gers in the Arkhangaï district, Mongolia.

And also from Mongolia :

Stripes - IF

This is an old, quick and boring little watercolor I had in my drawer, but still, I like the figure, layers and gesture. The feeling of lightness.

Ok, if you really need to know the truth, this is almost all I had with stripes, and I know I won't have time to produce much more during the next days, so here it is !
I swear I will start working again soon. Harder, better, longer.
Let me just finish that awesome book I started yesterday first.

Get out ! - Henri Edmond Cross and Neo-Impressionism

I recently discovered the Marmottan Monet museum in Paris, a great place for impressionists such as Berthe Morisot, Pissaro, Renoir, Sisley, and ... Monet. There is also an interesting collection of illuminations, but I don't know much aboute these.
You have until Frebruary 2012 to admire the new exhibition : Henri Edmond Cross and Neo-impressionism, from Seurat to Matisse.

Mr Cross being a friend of Paul Signac, and given my new crush on neo-impressionism, I could barely wait for the exhibition to open.

Learn more about the museum and the exhibition here.
